This is something I've been interested in doing for quite a while. This post pushed me over the edge to actually do it. I'm both a professional graphic designer with web coding experience AND an avid PC Gamer. I just launched my new site Cheapskategamer.com (http://www.cheapskategamer.com) and hope to grow it to become a complete listing of free and ultra-cheap PC games. No real traffic or ads yet (as of this comment posting), but I am hopeful. John Chow's book seems to be the next step after following the basics of this post. Thanks for the heads up and for pointing me in the right direction. I still have lots of work to do but am having a good time doing it. What would you say is the best free domain to use for starters? You can actually tweak your page a lot if you know a bit of html and css. Then add adsense advert on it or whatever you can find, and see if you can keep a good post frequency as well as keep the content interesting which is very important too. if you want your free domain name, instead of taking wordpress, you can also use drupal or joomla. I use Drupal and i am 99% pleased by it. Drupal is free and customizable. I suggest to start with a free blogging system like blogspot. Mine has the default configuration(p=N) and I don't seem to be getting any search engine traffic yet. I've only launched my blog about 10 days ago and some say it takes some time before google indexes the site. When I enter my blog's name my home page isn't listed...disturbing.
